Rules of Entry

  1. You must be aged 16 or above on 2nd April 2019.
  2.  You must be a resident of the UK (incl. Isle of Man and Channel Islands).
  3. You must not have any sewing NVQ or other equivalent sewing-related qualification unless acquired over 10 years ago.
  4. You cannot have ever worked full-time as a dressmaker, sample machinist, pattern cutter, tailor or seamstress.
  5. You must be an amateur sewer, meaning that your main source of income must not derive from your sewing in a professional environment.
  6. You must be able to commit to all the filming days which are currently expected to be during September & October 2019.
  7. You must not work (or have recently worked) for Love Productions or the BBC or any affiliate of either, and must not be a live-in partner or immediate relative (for example, mother, father, son, daughter, brother, sister) of a member of the BBC or Love Productions' staff or any affiliate of either or anyone working on or connected with the Programme.
  8. You warrant that all information you supply to Love as part of this application in the Programme (including without limitation in relation to any criminal charges, convictions or proceedings) is accurate and you have been and will be at all times truthful and honest. You agree to authorise Love Productions to conduct background checks in order to verify any of the information you have supplied and your suitability as a contestant and you agree to provide them with any assistance or further information necessary to do this. If Love has reasonable grounds to suspect that any information you provide is untrue or inaccurate, it has the right to suspend or terminate your participation in the Programme.
  9. You warrant that any material submitted by you as part of your application, in whatever form, including without limitation any written material, drawings, patterns and/or photographs (“Material”) is genuine and accurate and original to you, has not been copied or reproduced from any published source, tangible or electronic, does not infringe the copyright or any other right of any third party, is not defamatory, blasphemous, obscene or in contempt of court and does not breach any contract, duty of confidence or right of privacy.
  10. Your participation in and compliance with the application process does not in any way constitute an agreement with Love for you to appear on the Programme. Love Productions has no obligation to produce the Programme and even if the Programme is made there will be no obligation on Love or the BBC to broadcast or transmit or otherwise exploit the Programme or include you or any filming in the Programme.
  11. When selecting applicants for the Programme, we will take into account: skill, enthusiasm, drive and love of sewing. We are looking for lively characters who are comfortable being filmed. Initial selection will be based on the application forms and telephone interviews.  In addition the Producers may (but may not) invite short-listed applicants to attend an interview at their discretion.  We will be looking for a mix of finalists to reflect the range in age, location, gender and diversity of amateur sewers in Britain.
  12. By submitting your application form, you agree, if you are selected to take part in the Programme, to sign a contributor consent form granting Love Productions (and its licensees and assigns including the BBC) all necessary rights and consents for the full period of copyright (and afterwards so far as possible in perpetuity) to copy, edit and/or use at their sole discretion the product of your contribution to the Programme for any purposes connected with the Programme, the promotion and advertising thereof and all other rights (including all allied and ancillary rights) in the Programme by any means and in any and all media now known or hereafter invented throughout the world in perpetuity.
  13. You agree to keep all information relating to the application and audition process for the Programme confidential and will not publish, disclose or make any public statement (including without limitation on blogs or social networking platforms) or supply or use any information or material regarding the application and audition process or production, content and/or organisation of the Programme. You understand and accept that your duty of confidentiality applies and continues whether or not you are or remain actively involved in the project. 
  14. By submitting your application form, you have agreed that Love Productions may use, store and share your personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy. Should you have given your consent in the application form, we may also use your application to consider you for other television programmes on the same terms. Your personal information will be kept securely and processed by Love in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the Data Protection Act 2018 and other applicable legislation. If you have made an application by post, you agree that we may copy, adapt, take extracts from and/or upload your application onto the Application Website.
  15. The deadline for applications is 23:59pm on Sunday 9th June 2019. If you have not heard from a member of the team by phone or email by Friday 12th July 2019 unfortunately your application has been unsuccessful this time around.
  16. You will at all times during your participation in the application process for the Programme follow the instructions of the Love production team (the “Production Team”). Love's decision regarding selection of contestants for the Programmes at every stage of the application process is final and non-contestable. Love reserves the right at any time and for any reason to change its selection and/or to choose a replacement applicant to participate in the Programme.
  17. You have read and understood these Rules of Entry and by submitting this Application Form, you warrant that you are eligible to participate in the Programme.
