Rules of Entry

  1. You must be aged 16 or above on 25th April 2018.
  2. You must be resident of the UK (incl. Isle of Man and Channel Islands).
  3. You must not have any sewing NVQ or other sewing-related qualification unless acquired over 10 years ago.
  4. You cannot have ever worked full-time as a dressmaker, sample machinist, pattern cutter, tailor or seamstress.
  5. Your main source of income must not derive from your sewing in a professional environment.
  6. You must be able to commit to all the filming days which are currently expected to be during July/August/September 2018. 
  7. You must not work (or have recently worked) for Love Productions or the BBC or any affiliate of either, and must not be a live-in partner or immediate relative (for example, mother, father, son, daughter, brother, sister) of a member of the BBC or Love Productions' staff or any affiliate of either or anyone connected with the Programme.
  8. You warrant that all information you supply to Love as part of this application in the Programme (including without limitation in relation to any criminal charges, convictions or proceedings) is accurate and you have been and will be at all times truthful and honest. If you are chosen to participate in the Programme, you agree to authorise Love Productions to conduct background checks in order to verify any of the information you have supplied and you agree to provide them with any assistance or further information necessary to do this. If Love has reasonable grounds to suspect that any information you provide is untrue or inaccurate, it has the right to suspend or terminate your participation in the Programme.
  9. You warrant that any material submitted by you as part of your application, in whatever form, including without limitation any written material, drawings, patterns and/or photographs (“Material”) is genuine and accurate and original to you, has not been copied or reproduced from any published source, tangible or electronic, does not infringe the copyright or any other right of any third party, is not defamatory, blasphemous, obscene or in contempt of court and does not breach any contract, duty of confidence or right of privacy.
  10. Your participation in and compliance with the application process does not in any way constitute an agreement with Love for you to appear on the Programme. Love Productions has no obligation to produce the Programme and even if the Programme is made there will be no obligation on Love or the BBC to broadcast or transmit or otherwise exploit the Programme or include you or any filming in the Programme.
  11. When selecting applicants for the Programme, we will take into account: skill, enthusiasm, drive and love of sewing. We are looking for lively characters who are comfortable being filmed. Initial selection will be based on the application forms and telephone interviews.  In addition the Producers may (but may not) invite short-listed applicants to attend an interview at their discretion.  We will be looking for a mix of finalists to reflect the range in age, location, gender and diversity of amateur sewers in Britain.
  12. By submitting your application form, you agree, if you are selected to take part in the Programme, to sign a contributor consent form granting Love Productions (and its licensees and assigns including the BBC) all necessary rights and consents for the full period of copyright (and afterwards so far as possible in perpetuity) to copy, edit and/or use at their sole discretion the product of your contribution to the Programme for any purposes connected with the Programme, the promotion and advertising thereof and all other rights (including all allied and ancillary rights) in the Programme by any means and in any and all media now known or hereafter invented throughout the world in perpetuity.
  13. You agree to keep all information relating to the application and audition process for the Programme confidential and will not publish, disclose or make any public statement (including without limitation on blogs or social networking platforms) or supply or use any information or material regarding the application and audition process or production, content and/or organisation of the Programme. You understand and accept that your duty of confidentiality applies and continues whether or not you are or remain actively involved in the project. 
  14. Your Application and all information submitted by you in the course of your application and if selected, your participation in the Programme will be retained by Love Productions and by submitting your application you agree that Love may share the information with the BBC. Love Productions and the BBC will use your personal details only for the purposes of considering your application for this series and (with your consent) for potential future series, for administration and other uses as detailed in the Take Part Privacy Policy. Your personal information will not be passed to anyone else except where we are obliged to do so or as detailed in the Take Part Privacy Policy. The information will be kept securely and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, and other applicable legislation.
  15. The deadline for applications is 23:59pm on Monday 28th May. If you have not heard from a member of the team by phone or email by Friday 13th July, unfortunately your application has been unsuccessful this time around.
  16. Love's decision regarding selection for the Programmes is entirely at its discretion and cannot be appealed. Love reserves the right at any time and for any reason to change its selection and/or to choose a replacement applicant to participate in the Programme. I have read and understood these Rules of Entry and by submitting this Application Form I warrant that I am eligible to participate in the Programme.
